Tufts Film and Media Studies
2026 Winternship Program
Applications open for January 2026
FMS Winternships are intensive internships that offer students immersive experiences in prestigious media organizations across the country. Winternships provide valuable real-world training in various media sectors, such as filmmaking, television, radio, advertising, marketing, public relations, digital media, and journalism. Participants engage in special projects, shadow professionals, and actively participate in the daily operations of their assigned sites.
Winternships take place over winter break, typically last 1-2 weeks, and may take place in-person, hybrid, or remotely. Some Winternships may also be offered for course credit. If credit is required, students must enroll in FMS-0099-3 this spring.
Applicants must meet specific academic criteria, have relevant coursework in media studies, and submit well-researched and thought-provoking essays tailored to each Winternship site. Sites are listed below - you may choose 1-2 specific sites to apply to. Please read the descriptions carefully to learn about what each site is offering before choosing and submitting your application.
Open to all Tufts University undergraduate students. You do not need to be an FMS major or minor to apply.

-
Address the following in your essay:
-
What experience and/or interests do you have that make you a good candidate for this position?
-
What do you hope to gain from this Winternship experience?
-
How does this opportunity relate to your liberal arts education?

Important Additional Requirements
-
If selected for a site that requires credit, you must enroll in the one-credit internship course (FMS-0099-03) during the Spring semester.

International students are welcome to apply. However, due to CPT regulations, if accepted, you must enroll in the one-credit internship course (FMS-0099-03), even if the site does not require credit.
-
Do not contact the sites independently for information or applications. All applications must be submitted through FMS. Contacting the sites directly will result in disqualification from the Winternship program.

Please complete and submit your applications on time. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. If you have a special circumstance that prevents you from submitting on time, please reach out to leslie.goldberg@tufts.edu.
