POSITION TITLE: Content and Operations Summer Intern (Hybrid, Paid)
TEAM: Content Operations, Content Planning, and Content Acquisitions
LOCATION: Arlington, VA preferred OR Boston, MA (Hybrid, 1-2 days per week in office)
STATUS: Full-time, Summer 2026

PBS Distribution (PBSd) is a leading distributor of public media content around the world, entertaining audiences across platforms and formats. PBS Distribution operates seven subscription streaming channels — PBS Masterpiece (US and CA), PBS KIDS, PBS Living, PBS Documentaries (US and CA) and PBS America (U.K.) as well as numerous Free Advertising-Supported Streaming TV (FAST) Channels in the U.S. and U.K. In addition, the company reaches viewers through Transactional Video On Demand (TVOD), Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) licensing, Advertising-Supported Video on Demand (AVOD), DVD and Blu-ray, theatrical releasing, educational platforms, non-theatrical and inflight sales, and serves broadcasters and producers providing program sales and co-production financing.

INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES:
The Content and Operations Intern will gain a foundational knowledge of how the Content and Operations teams function within PBSd to achieve and exceed company goals. This person will gain an understanding of the full content lifecycle, PBSd’s lines of business, content performance metrics, core operational projects and initiatives, and relationship building with key producing partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pull and analyze data from PBSd’s media performance tracking systems, including Power BI, to prepare portfolio performance reviews with producing partners.
Assist in gathering information across PBSd’s lines of business to prepare producer reports.
Participate in early screening and recommendation process for incoming content.
Join content reviews, pitch, and partnership meetings with filmmakers, producers, and distributors as a notetaker, and identify follow-up and action items.
Compile and analyze sales performance for programs that are under consideration for renewal or expiration.
Support ongoing operations, including theatrical distribution, YouTube Content ID, digital asset management initiatives, and cross-database data analysis to inform projects.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Rising Sophomore, Junior or Senior currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (students who have graduated are not eligible)
Media Studies, Business, Communications, or similar major
Previous work experience preferred
Experience or interest in television and media production preferred
Proficiency in MS Office software: Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Word
Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills
Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to manage and prioritize project workflow in a fast-paced environment
Excellent initiative and follow through
Basic familiarity with PBS programming preferably across children’s content, documentaries, and dramas
