Responsibilities

Find/Cover local news and feature stories.

Cover local town politics: attend meetings in person when not available to watch live.

Cover local events.

Qualifications

Education: Must have a High School Diploma or GED. At minimum, some college or writing based experience is preferred.

Writing skills are a MUST, we are a weekly publication and require a quick  turn-around. We use AP style - some knowledge or a willingness to learn  is helpful.

Computer skills: writing programs, Google Drive, Slack

Photography skills: generalized

Personal skills: must be willing to speak directly with subjects either in person or by phone.

Ability to meet set deadlines, schedule is somewhat flexible but must be available for some evening and weekend assignments.

Reliable transportation as some meetings and events may not be acceptable via public transportation.

Pay rate can be discussed during the interview, part-time rate is hourly and freelance pays per piece.
