In her email below, FMS student Lena Dodooo shares an enthusiastic update on her internship experience with Senator Elizabeth Warren's office. Lena's experience aligns closely with the FMS Internship Program’s goals by providing her with real-world, career-relevant responsibilities in a dynamic setting.

Good morning Professor Cummings!

I hope summer is treating you well! I just wanted to update you on my internship experience so far, as I had promised during school!

Three words: I LOVE it!!

I didn’t realize how passionate I was about politics before I started this internship, but for the last four weeks I’ve found myself really enjoying being in this world. It’s so fast paced which is perfect because I never get bored, and I feel like I’m genuinely making a difference by being here.

My day usually consists of clipping news articles and TV clips that mention Senator Warren and then sending out an email blast with them to all of her offices, transcribing her interviews, creating graphics for her YouTube channel and writing press releases.

Last week I got to ride the elevator with her as we ran (we were late) to a press conference! It was so cool.

The interns also had an opportunity to speak to her last week, and she called me a “stunner”!

I really appreciate your guidance and support as my supervisor, you’re the best! I hope you’re staying out of the heat and enjoy the rest of your summer.
