About the event

Riccardo Giacconi is a Professor of the Practice in Media Arts and Sound at the SMFA.

Giganti Rosse ("Red Giants") is his first feature-length film, and it received the Best Italian Documentary award at the 2023 Torino Film Festival.

The film unfolds during the summer of 2022, when Carlotta, engrossed in recording the audiobook for Walter Benjamin’s short stories, is visited by her sister and brother. The three find themselves in the small town where they grew up. Gradually, an episode they experienced together two years earlier resurfaces: an act of violence in which each of them was, in their own way, entangled.

Reception in Barnum 200 immediately following the film.
