Need to Know
FMS 20-02 is for first-year students; sophomore, junior and senior, see FMS 20-01. Students who take this course as a first-year only section and plan on pursuing the FMS major or minor should consider taking FMS-0001 Art of the Moving Image concurrently or the following semester.
About the Course
Introduction to cinematic storytelling and dramatic construction, which guides student short film ideas from concept to screenplay. The course operates as an immersive workshop in the craft of writing, short, engaging scripts. Screenings and analysis of innovative narrative shorts from around the world supplement weekly script development and insightful roundtable discussion of student work.
This course is offered occasionally and is intended for first-years interested in the FMS major or minor. It is suggested that FMS-0001 Art of the Moving Image be taken immediately after the completion of this course. For students considering future FMS production courses, it is recommended that FMS10 (Film and Media Production I) be taken soon after.
